What is Chiropractic?
At Cornerstone Chiropractic, we focus on neurologically based chiropractic care. This is based off the model that good health is achieved not only by identifying and correcting existing symptoms and conditions, but also seeking to achieve lifelong functional improvement.
Chiropractors tend to be thought of as "the back pain doc". While this isn't entirely wrong, pain is just one symptom that can potentially be improved. Chiropractic is the world leader in natural health care and is based on the belief that God designed our bodies with the innate ability to self-heal and self-regulate. The bible states in Genesis 1 that "God created mankind in his image". Our bodies are designed for health not sickness, with the ability to recognize, adapt to, and cope with the stressors that are constantly acting on the body.
What are these stressors?
These are largely due to things we eat, drink, or get exposed to that aren't entirely healthy for us. Food poisoning and allergies are two examples of this. When our body is fully functioning, it has the ability to process out these harmful substances.
Examples of these can include our work life, relationships, or life circumstances.
We all deal with the emotional stress life constantly throws at us, but our bodies have the ability to cope with and thrive through these situations when functioning properly.
The stressors that actually physically act on our bodies. These can include the repetitive movements we do day in and day out or traumatic events such as falls and accidents.
How does chiropractic help?
Here at Cornerstone, we focus on the function of your nervous system. We get your nervous system functioning better, so you can start healing better as a result. Gray's Anatomy tells us the nervous system is the master system that controls every tissue, organ, muscle and cell in the body. When our bodies are functioning properly, we have the amazing ability to respond and adapt to stress, often times without us ever even realizing it. We are constantly putting stress on our bodies and as a result our bodies need to always function correctly in order to give us a chance to stay healthy. Function and pain are two different things. Pain (or other symptoms) come as a result of decreased function over time. When function is inhibited long enough, we begin to see the symptoms as a result.
With the use of gentle, specific chiropractic care, we see symptom relief of all types.
